So there's this kitty...

This guy one of the cool ones. He's not so sure about dogs, but I heard that one tried to attack him down the street before we hooked up, so he's hissy with them (I'd be, too!). I'm helping him gain his confidence with trusty Ginger the furry roommate and I think he will be fine once he has some good dog experiences. He seems pretty young... I'm guessing less than a year and he's just happy to have his belly full and a spot to cuddle the night away.
I trimmed his tootsies with no problems.
Wouldn't you love to give this great cat a good home?

  2. K.C. is going for the big snip snip and blood work tomorrow. I will not be giving him vaccines. If you would like to read more about natural rearing, there are some good yahoo groups that you could join to learn from folks who have feeding raw and not vaccinating for years: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/jstsayno2vaccs/

  3. So the Kitty known as KC (and/or Chipmunk... nothing really rings for me) has been neutered and is doing well. The only problem is the clinic didn't do blood work so I don't know his status on Feline Leukemia. He's loving his meaty canned food and dried tripe treats and I have begun to introduce raw. The big ol' dish of raw green tripe with a dab of canned food was totally unappealing... but subsequent attempts with Primal's beef/salmon nuggets sitting next to some canned have been eaten up. So here's my dilemma- Knowing what I've learned and try to convey to my customers, I have a hard time feeding anything but raw to foster cats. Finding homes that will feed raw is even harder. Heck, finding homes at all is next to impossible with the plethora of homeless kits these day, so if you know of ANYONE that prefers to feed as nature intended and has been looking for a raw fed cat... please send them my way. Cats can be hard to switch once they've had a taste of flavor enhanced canned or kibble food.

Oh... and we are making great progress with the dog /cat relations. KC is learning that Ginger means no harm and is much more relaxed around her. We are taking baby steps and I think he will be fine with calm dogs that respect his space and will probably even grow very fond of a K9 companion in time.

  4. Sort of forgot about updating here but I still have theBeave. Oh... finally settled on Beaver for his name. He's just a great cat! Highly food motivated, thriving on his raw meat diet and due to his food motivation, he's quickly learning some tricks with clicker training. We warm up with "hop up" and "hop down" to get him loosened up and then go for the big "High Five!" He's a hoot. He and Ginger were wrestling yesterday.
